SXSW Performer: Tally Hall (Ann Arbor, MI)
Outfitted in their standard attire of white button-downs, black slacks and color-coded ties, these five unpredictable musicians create engaging music that transcends any one genre. From harmonic pop reminiscent of Weezer to a horn-heavy ragtime number, their 2005 debut album, “Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum," hints at their penchant for dynamic live shows. The Northern natives are on the rise, particularly if a spot on "The O.C. Mix 6" album and a John Lennon Scholarship award-winning song ("Good Day") signifies anything. --Tara Hall
