B.B. King Blues Festival To Roll On Aug. 1
The line-up for this year's B.B. King Blues Festival will include Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Tommy Castro, and--as always--the tour's namesake. The outing hits the road on Aug. 1 in Las Vegas, and will run through Oct. 1. Most dates have been confirmed, but more will be announced soon.
King, who will celebrate his 75th birthday on Sept. 15, nonetheless has remained busy on the touring circuit and in the studio. Last month, a new King album titled "Making Love Is Good for You" (Universal/MCA) hit stores. The King-produced album features five new songs among its 14 tracks.
Another album, a collaboration between King and Eric Clapton titled "Riding With the King," is scheduled to be released on June 13. According to King's official website, five of the tracks recorded for the album were classic King songs, and John Hiatt penned the title track.
King is among the guests scheduled to appear in a Memorial Day concert to be broadcast on May 28 on PBS. Others who are scheduled to appear include General Colin Powell, Trisha Yearwood, Harolyn Blackwell, Charles Durning, James Naughton, conductor Erich Kunzel and the National Symphony Orchestra. Actor Ossie Davis will host the 90-minute special.
