Brian Wilson Takes "Pet Sounds" On Tour

Brian Wilson, a founding member of the Beach Boys, will re-create the group's classic "Pet Sounds" album on the road, backed by local orchestras. The 24-date amphitheater tour kicks off on July 7 on the East Coast and winds down on Sept. 24 in Los Angeles.

The concerts will open with an orchestral overture of Wilson songs, followed by an acoustic set by Wilson and his band. The concerts will close with Wilson, his band and the orchestra performing "Pet Sounds" in its entirety. Four cities--Baltimore, Cleveland, Austin and Saratoga, Calif.--will not feature an orchestra, and only selections of "Pet Sounds" will be performed.

Wilson's band features members of L.A.-based power-pop band the Wondermints--Darian Sahanaja (vibes, keyboards), Mike D'Amico (percussion), Probyn Gregory (theremin, French horn, trumpet) and Nick Walusko (guitar)--as well as former Beach Boy Jeff Foskett (guitar), Paul Mertens (saxophone, flute) of Poi Dog Pondering, Bob Lizik (bass), Scott Bennett (keyboards, percussion), Jim Hines (drums) and Taylor Mills (vocals).

Wilson recorded a live album during sold-out April 7 and 8 concerts at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, Calif. The album will be released in late May, and will be sold exclusively through Wilson's official website.
