Pete Yorn firms up early year headlining tour
Singer/songwriter Pete Yorn has finished mapping his tour plans for early 2007, filling in a few blanks on his calendar through the end of March as he continues to back his latest album, "Nightcrawler."
Yorn--who recently toured with the Dixie Chicks and just finished up a December run of holiday-themed radio-station concerts--will kick off his headlining outing Feb. 6 in Boise, ID. The singer has 28 shows on his calendar over the tour's seven-week stretch.
For a limited time, fans who order tickets to one of Yorn's upcoming shows through his official website can download one of his songs for free, according to the site.
Released in August, "Nightcrawler" debuted at No. 50 on The Billboard 200 chart. The set, which follows 2003's "Day I Forgot," features a guest appearance from Dixie Chicks members Martie Maguire and Natalie Maines on the cut "The Man." Yorn--who first met the Dixie Chicks at an after-Grammy party in New York--co-wrote a track, titled "Baby Hold On," on the Dixie Chicks' latest album, "Taking the Long Way."
Yorn is calling "Nightcrawler" "the final installment in a musical trilogy" that began with his 2001 debut "musicforthemorningafter," and continued on "Day I Forgot," according to Columbia Records.
"The record feels different and it sounds different, but it also feels like a continuation of what I've been doing," Yorn said in a statement. "I feel like it's taking more chances creatively as a whole and at the same time it's just music that I want to make. There are a lot of pop songs on it, but it might not be as pop-y as the last record."
