Tripping Daisy Will Split After Release Of Next Album

The surviving members of Tripping Daisy have announced that they will not continue as a band in the wake of the death of the group's founding guitarist. The split was announced by frontman Tim DeLaughter during an interview on Dallas radio station KDGE.

''On December 12th, Tim DeLaughter announced that this upcoming self-titled album would be our last, as everyone has decided to close the door on Tripping Daisy after the passing of our friend and guitar player, Wes Berggren,'' the band said today (12/13) on its official website.

''As for you our wonderful fans, we hope to leave you with your last Tripping Daisy album in peace, happiness and harmony as we go forward in our own adventures. Thank you for your ears.''

Berggren was found dead in his Dallas home on Oct. 27. The Dallas coroner's office said he died of an accidental drug overdose.

The band had planned to release its fourth album in January, but delayed the release following Berggren's death. Later, the band decided that the album would be released with two additional tracks, one of which features Berggren's father on guitar. The self-titled album is expected to hit stores in February.
