Tony Bennett Announces January Shows
Tony Bennett, who plans to spend much of 2000 on the road, has announced next year's first concert appearances. Meanwhile, Columbia Records has spearheaded a promotional contest with Gallo Wine's Livingston Cellar brand that will award a trip for two to a Tony Bennett concert anywhere he plays in the U.S. next year.
After wrapping up 1999 with concerts in Illinois and California and a New Year's Eve show at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas, Bennett moves into 2000 with a slate of appearances in Delaware and Florida. Bennett's concert itinerary for much of 2000 should begin to fill out in the coming weeks.
The contest will award the winner and a guest round-trip coach-class air travel to a Tony Bennett concert city in the U.S., two nights of hotel accommodations, and tickets to a show. Entry blanks and official rules are available on specially marked bottles of Livingston Cellar Premium wines and on Bennett's official Columbia Records website. On Oct. 4, Bennett performed at the re-opening gala for Radio City Music Hall, a recorded event which will air Dec. 1 on NBC. Other performers included Sting, 98 Degrees, Natalie Cole, Patti LaBelle, Wyclef Jean, Billy Crystal, and Rosie O'Donnell.
Bennett, whose career spans more than five decades, most recently released the album "Bennett Sings Ellington/Hot & Cool'' (RPM/Columbia), the latest in a series of tribute albums he has released over the years.
