Ticket Onsales For Springsteen's Garden Finale Pushed Back

Tickets for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band's upcoming appearances at New York's Madison Square Garden will go on sale March 4, two weeks later than previously announced, according to sources at the venue. The Madison Square Garden shows, which are scheduled to take place June 12, 15, 17, 20 and 22, are expected to serve as the tour's finale.

Last year, Bruce Springsteen opened the U.S leg of his reunion tour with The E Street Band near New York City with a sold out 15-show stand at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J., which grossed $19 million.

Now that the tour is hitting secondary and tertiary markets, many shows are no longer posting the instant sellouts that became commonplace last year. Tickets are still available in some markets where they have been on sale since Jan. 29.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported this week that, as of Monday (2/14) only about 5,000 tickets--half the number the promoter needs to break even--had been sold for Springsteen and band's March 14 appearance at the Alltel Arena in North Little Rock. The arena's manager told the newspaper that the show would go on despite the soft sales.

On the other side of the spectrum, all tickets for the band's March 30 stop at Denver's Pepsi Arena were snapped up in 13 minutes.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band's 54 appearances in 18 cities during 1999 grossed $61.4 million, according to Pollstar. Only The Rolling Stones took in a higher North American concert gross total last year.
