Lionel Richie rolls out tour plans behind new album

Just days before his new album, "Coming Home," arrives in stores, veteran R&B singer/songwriter Lionel Richie has unveiled plans to support the set with a fall tour.

The roadtrip begins in late October, and stops are currently confirmed at theaters in 16 cities by late November. Details are included below.

Ticket on-sale information has not yet been announced, but a pre-sale for premium seats and VIP packages is currently underway via Tickets-for-Charity.com, proceeds from which will benefit the United Way of America.

"I have always believed in the work of United Way," Richie said in a press release. "They are there day-in and day-out in towns across America to make things better for young children, families, or those affected by crises like Hurricane Katrina. I couldn't be happier that this great organization will benefit from my tour thanks to Tickets-for-Charity."

Next Tuesday (9/12), Island/Def Jam offers up "Coming Home," Richie's follow-up to 2004's "Just for You." Richie enlisted Jermaine Dupri, Rafael Saadiq, Sean Garrett, Dallas Austin and others to help with songwriting and production duties, according to the label.

"Coming Home" features the single "I Call It Love," the music video for which stars Richie's daughter, Nicole Richie, who is best known for her role on the reality-TV series "The Simple Life." The clip is streaming in its entirety at Richie's website.
