Third Day continues 'Wherever You Are' tour
Christian rock outfit Third Day continues to back its latest Dove Award-winning album, last November's "Wherever You Are."
The group has lined up a busy schedule that runs deep into November, and so far boasts stops in about 50 cities. Details are included below.
Fellow Gospel-rock act The David Crowder Band will hold down the tour's opening slot as it continues to support its September release, "A Collision."
Released in November, Third Day's "Wherever You Are" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, and at No. 8 on The Billboard 200, thanks to first-week sales of about 63,000 copies. The disc features the cut "Cry Out to Jesus," which earlier this year earned Third Day its 24th Dove Award; the song took top honor in the Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song category.
Third Day recorded "Wherever You Are" in Atlanta's Southern Tracks Studio. Band members wrote all of the songs on the set and produced half of them; Brown Bannister produced the other half.
"It was an incredible experience in the studio this time around," frontman Mac Powell said in a statement. "The end result is a collection of songs that reflects what we want to communicate to anyone who listens to this record. We want to convey, as the title track states, that wherever you are, whoever you are, whatever you are going through, God is ready to meet you right there. No matter where, no matter why, no matter when, there is hope.'"
"Wherever You Are" follows 2004's "Wire," which scored Third Day its second Best Rock Gospel Album trophy at that year's Grammy Awards; the band's previous set, "Come Together," took that same category in 2002.
