Spring U.S. Concerts Set For Andrea Bocelli
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will embark on a two-week U.S. tour in late March that will take the contemporary opera star to seven cities. Bocelli is expected to perform in more than 20 U.S. markets during a tour that will be split into spring and fall legs.
Tickets for Bocelli's Miami, Atlanta, and Tampa performances are on sale now, and tickets for his appearances in Worcester, Mass., Dallas and Houston go on sale Monday (2/28). Other onsale dates haven't been announced.
According to his official website, Bocelli is scheduled to perform a July 5 concert at the Statue of Liberty in New York.
In 1999, Bocelli's nine North American concerts grossed $13 million, according to concert industry trade magazine Pollstar. The average ticket sold for more than $100, and promoters reported that, despite the premium price tag, the majority of his performances were sellouts.
Following Bocelli's U.S. tour, he is scheduled to return to Italy for a short time before embarking on a Japanese tour in May.
During a brief Australian tour, he will perform at the Sydney Opera House on Sept. 14 for the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games.
