Sonic Youth, Supergrass Lock Down Opening Slots On Pearl Jam Tour

Sonic Youth will occupy the opening slot on first leg of Pearl Jam's upcoming North American tour, which opens on Aug. 3 in Virginia Beach and runs through Sept. 5. Supergrass will open the tour's month-long second leg, which opens on Oct. 4 in Montreal.

Last month, Pearl Jam announced 40 dates for a two-leg tour. However, the band -- notoriously protective of the information it releases to the press -- still has not announced the venues it will visit or ticket information.

Pearl Jam is scheduled to release a new album titled ''Binaural'' on May 16.
