Steve Earle maps out modest summer tour
Country/folk hybrid Steve Earle will play a select few dates this summer as the singer continues to support his most recent album, 2005's "The Revolution Starts ... Now."
Many of Earle's appearances will come at music festivals, including the June 18 Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN, which features a lineup including Radiohead, Tom Petty, Beck and others. The three-day festival, set to take place on a 700-acre farm in rural Tennessee, kicks off June 16.
Earle will also put in appearances at the June 24 Kate Wolf Memorial music fest in Laytonville, CA, as well as a pair of Canadian folk festivals, starting with the July 6 Winnipeg Folk Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
"The Revolution Starts ... Now," a collection that continues Earle's penchant for mixing music and activism, picked up a Grammy Award in February 2005 for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
Three songs from the politically charged album--"F the CC," "Rich Man's War" and the title track--are streaming at Earle's official website.
"Revolution" continues a prolific release schedule for Earle, coming on the heels of 2002's "Jerusalem," the 2002 outtakes package "Sidetracks" and 2003's double-live CD and DVD "Just an American Boy."
