Stevie Nicks signs on for Tom Petty gigs

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are giving fans more bang for their buck during some upcoming tour dates by inviting Stevie Nicks to share the stage with them.

Nicks is scheduled to join Petty and company during the first eight dates of the band's upcoming tour, which launches June 9 in Charlotte, NC.

"Stevie will join Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers onstage to sing a handful of songs each night," reads an email blast that the group sent to fans Thursday (5/25) night.

Petty and Nicks have collaborated a number of times over the past three decades, most notably on the duet "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," which appeared on Nicks' 1981 solo debut, "Bella Donna."

As previously reported, former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio will open most of Petty's upcoming concerts, with Pearl Jam and The Allman Brothers each taking over for a block of dates, as well. Details are included below.

Tickets for most shows are on sale now, while those for the remaining dates are due to hit the box office between now (5/26) and June 9, as noted in the itinerary below.

Dubbed the "Highway Companion Tour," Petty's summer trek takes its name from his forthcoming third solo album, for which no release date has been announced. Jeff Lynne is producing the set, with Petty and Heartbreaker Mike Campbell assisting.

Petty recently told Rolling Stone that he planned to include some of the new material in the set list during his upcoming shows, and also reportedly said that the upcoming tour may be his last.

"I think we should do this tour and then put an end to doing national tours, and just play now and then where we want to play," Petty is quoted as saying. "The idea of doing sheds or arenas ... you turn into an animal by the time it's done."
