Los Lobos keep busy on the road ahead of new album
Los Lobos' summer tour will find the East L.A. band sharing the stage with John Hiatt on nine dates and the Steve Miller Band on two. Half of the 31 shows booked for the tour will occur after the Aug. 3 release of their latest album, "Tin Can Trust," a return to the straightforward, rootsy sound of their earliest albums.
"Tin Can Trust," the band's first release for Shout! Factory and first collection of new original material in four years, also includes their take on the Grateful Dead's "West L.A. Fadeaway."
The band's upcoming schedule starts June 11 with a car show and "cruise night" in Dinuba, CA, and ends with an R&B cruise in San Diego on Oct. 17. The two shows with Miller are also in California -- July 10 at the Santa Barbara Bowl and July 11 at L.A.'s Greek Theatre.
Hiatt and Lobos start their string of dates together Aug. 12 Albuquerque, NM, and go through Sept. 3 at the Casino Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Hiatt's tour leading up to the Los Lobos dates starts 23 in Glenside, PA. His post-Lobos run, which is still being booked, includes a three-night stand at New York's City Winery on Sept. 25, 26 and 28.
