New "American Idol" hosts to be confirmed next week

" American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest announced via Twitter that the reality show will make a long-awaited announcement about its hosts next Wednesday (9/22).

"Looks like I have some new plans on wed!" he wrote. "I will be able to introduce the @AmericanIdol judges panel! We will send u a pic! Can't wait."

This follows a month of speculation about who would be chosen for the coveted positions. Top judge Simon Cowell left the show to concentrate on the U.S. version of his U.K. hit "The X Factor." Fellow judge, Ellen DeGeneres, exited as did songwriter Kara DioGuardi. Randy Jackson remains, reports say.

According to a variety of sources, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has inked a deal to become a judge. Jennifer Lopez reportedly will join him after signing a $10 million to $12 million contract to sit behind the table for one year.
