Gorillaz announce guests, invite N.E.R.D. to open North American leg

The animated British alt-rock outfit Gorillaz has confirmed the guests that will be joining the band's lineup for its upcoming fall road trip, and also added support from Pharrell Williams' project N.E.R.D.
Confirmed guests for the Gorillaz lineup include De La Soul, Little Dragon, Bootie Brown, Kano and Bobby Womack, as well as Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of the Clash.
Gorillaz -- the musical project of Blur's Damon Albarn and British cartoonist Jamie Hewlett -- are hitting the road behind their third album, "Plastic Beach," which hit shelves in March. The 16-track set, which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200, follows 2005's "Demon Days" and the band's 2001 self-titled debut.
Gorillaz and N.E.R.D. will join forces for the month-long North American leg, which kicks off Oct. 3 in Montreal, and wraps up 19 stops later in Vancouver.
Also included on Gorillaz schedule is an 11-date swing through Europe and a six-city Australian leg. The full schedule is shown at right.
