Parole rejected for John Lennon's killer

For the sixth time, John Lennon's killer has been denied parole. Mark David Chapman, now 55 years old, gunned down Lennon on a New York City street on Dec. 8, 1980.
On Tuesday (9/8), a New York parole board reportedly interviewed Chapman via a video conference. He first became eligible for parole in 2000.
"This premeditated, senseless and selfish act of tragic consequence... leads to the conclusion that your discretionary release remains inappropriate at this time and incompatible with the welfare of the community," the parole board wrote in a letter to Chapman.
Chapman's next parole review is set for 2012.
