Guns N' Roses walk off in Ireland, Axl tweets about Reading, Leeds problems

Axl Rose responded via Twitter to reports that Guns N' Roses were at fault for delays at the Reading and Leeds festivals, but that didn't assuage fans in Ireland who greeted the band with boos and thrown bottles when they once again took the stage late for a show.
Rose walked off stage at the O2 in Dublin on Wednesday (9/1) after fans expressed their displeasure that GNR was starting an hour late. Twenty minutes in, Rose stopped the show in the middle of "Welcome to the Jungle" and said: "Here's the deal: One more bottle and we go home," according to the BBC.
After a few more plastic bottles were tossed, Rose told the crowd, "If you don't want to have fun, all you've got to do is let us know. We've got no problem -- we'll go on our way."
The band returned to the stage at 11:30 p.m. after a 60-minute break. The day after the show, promoters MCD and the O2 apologized for the late hour, but added, "No artist should be subjected to missiles and unknown substances being thrown at them."
The Dublin fiasco was on the heels of GNR's Reading Festival headlining slot being cut short after they took the stage an hour after their 9:30 p.m. scheduled start on Aug. 27. The scene was repeated at Leeds a few days later.
Rose tweeted that the delays "had nothing to do with us as the previous bands (who were great by the way) came off stage when they did and we went on within our contracted and documented changeover time period.
"Having the fans or our show penalized for how the event was ran or simply the natural flow of events those evenings and for such minimal amount of overtime along with distortions and falsehoods by media, the promoter and or event organizers regarding the events seems a bit draconian and more than unfair to the fans."
Rose said the festivals were "a cash grab with no respect for the fans or the band" and then wondered why he and the band were singled out when issues arise.
"I didn't organize, arrange, authorize, have knowledge of or was even consulted about our being booked for these shows till after the fact nor did I choose to work with anyone I'm aware of other than our manager who was involved in arranging these dates. Yet it would appear we're amazingly often legally obligated to honor such arrangements whether against our will or better judgment. That's simply and unfortunately how this business often works with the artist and imo seems is legally supported to benefit managers, agents, promoters and ticket vendors."
Naturally, he thanked the fans who supported his band at the festivals.
The next stop on GNR's Europe tour is Saturday (9/4) in Rome. They wrap up Oct. 23 in Barcelona, Spain.
