Liz Phair takes "Funstyle" to the West Coast

Liz Phair will venture to major markets throughout the western portion of North America this fall in support of her first album in five years, "Funstyle."
The alt-rock singer/songwriter will first dive into three consecutive nights (10/1-10/3) at Las Vegas' Pearl Concert Theater before stopping by clubs in six more cities. The two-week excursion finishes up Oct. 15 in Vancouver. The full schedule is at right.
"Funstyle," which is set for a July 3 release via Rocket Science Ventures, marks Phair's sixth studio effort and the first new material since 2005's "Somebody's Miracle."
"You were never supposed to hear these songs," Phair posted at her website. "These songs lost me my management, my record deal and a lot of nights of sleep."
In October, fans will be able to purchase a double-disc set featuring the new album, described in some published reports as mostly electronic, and "Girlysound," a collection of rarities and demos that date back to before Phair's 1993 breakthrough album, "Exile in Guyville."
"Smoke," the first single off of "Funstyle," is currently streaming and available for download at Phair's website.
