Jay-Z, New York Yankees unveil co-branded merchandise
Capitalizing on the upcoming Jay-Z and Eminem co-headlining shows at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, the New York Yankees and Jay-Z have created limited-edition co-branded Yankees/Jay-Z merchandise.
The merchandise will be sold exclusively at Yankee Stadium beginning Monday (8/30) through the Sept. 13-14 Jay-Z/Eminem dates.
Among the items that will be available at the stadium are men's and women's T-Shirts and hooded sweatshirts, and fitted Yankees caps with the album logo from Jay-Z's "The Blueprint 3" album.
The Yankees adopted Jay-Z's track "Empire State of Mind" -- which was first used as shortstop Derek Jeter's at-bat music -- as an unofficial theme song on their 2009 World Series run. He performed the song prior to Game 2 of the Series.
In June, Eminem and Jay-Z announced plans for their "Home and Home Tour," comprising two dates each at Yankee Stadium and at Comerica Park in Eminem's hometown of Detroit. The Detroit shows are set for Sept. 3 and 4.
So far there's no word on similar merchandise offerings from the Tigers and Eminem.
