Video and setlist: The Rolling Stones at the Echoplex
When the Rolling Stones played Los Angeles' Echoplex on Saturday (4/27), they didn't just bring a couple of acoustic guitars and a couple of hits. Instead, the club crowd got 14 songs, including a couple of rarities, with the full touring band.
The L.A. Times reports that making room for the full ensemble with enough space for Mick Jagger to move like... Mick, involved extending the Echoplex stage toward the soundboard.
The setlist, clearly a preview of what the band has been rehearsing for the tour's official kickoff at the Staples center on May 3rd, featured a couple of selections that surprised some fans.
"Little Queenie," the band's take on the Chuck Berry classic, reportedly hasn't been seen on stage since September of 1998. "Street Fighting Man" has been AWOL for a full decade.
While the Stones barred cameras and cell phones from the venue, they had their own film crew in place and produced a short teaser video, featuring footage from the show.
