Pretty Lights heads out with "A Color Map of the Sun"
Pretty Lights, the stage name of Derek Vincent Smith, is preparing for a round of summer festival appearances, half of which will occur after the release of "A Color Map of the Sun."
The electronic act will start the roadwork with a June 7 performance at New York City's Governors Ball Music Festival, followed by another eight North American stops. The current itinerary wraps up with two consecutive shows (8/16-17) in Morrison, CO.
Pretty Lights will unleash "A Color Map of the Sun," the outfit's fourth studio effort, July 2. Like previous albums, this one will be available as a free download on the day of its release. Those who purchase a physical copy of the collection will continue receiving content.
"This isn't just an album; it is a massive collection of music beyond what is on the CDs that I will continue to put out after the album release," a note posted at the Pretty Lights website reads. "There is an insightful documentary film on the making of this project to be released alongside the launch of the album, as well as a music video for every song. They are all beautiful and uniquely unusual pieces of art."
