Robert Plant Presents the Sensational Shape Shifters maps first headlining run
Robert Plant's latest project, the Sensational Shape Shifters, will embark on its inaugural North American run next month.
The multiple Grammy winner and his six-piece band will begin the domestic outing with a June 20 stop in Dallas, followed by theater shows spread from coast to coast over the course of five weeks. The 21-city trek, which also includes five festival appearances, wraps up July 27 in Brooklyn, NY.
Drawing inspiration "from the roots music of Mississippi, Appalachia, Gambia, Bristol and the foothills of Wolverhampton," according to Plant's website, the outfit consists of the former Led Zeppelin frontman and members of his former backing band, Strange Sensation -- guitarist Justin Adams, keyboardist John Baggott and bassist Billy Fuller. Drummer Dave Smith, guitarist Liam "Skin" Tyson and multi-instrumentalist Juldeh Camara are also part of the lineup.
Plant most recently released "Band of Joy," his ninth solo release. The effort, which also features his wife, Patti Griffin, earned two Grammy nominations: Best Americana Album and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for "Silver Rider."
