Cheech & Chong, War, Tower of Power plot "Up in Smoke" run
Comedic duo Cheech & Chong will hit the road with War and Tower of Power for a six-city trek they've dubbed the "Up in Smoke" tour.
The springtime concerts begin officially begin May 25 at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre, though a two-night stand May 17-18 in Porterville, CA, is also on the books. The "Up in Smoke" run will stop by Tucson, AZ (5/26); Austin, TX (5/31); and Grand Prairie, TX (6/1); before wrapping up nearly two months later with an Aug. 23 performance in Atlanta.
Cheech & Chong, who released their first film, "Up in Smoke," in 1978, are preparing for the late April DVD release of their latest project, "Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie." The Grammy-winning pair has unleashed eight comedy albums, the most recent one -- "Where There's Smoke There's Cheech & Chong" -- in 2002.
California funk outfit War will perform from their four-decade discography, as will jazz-funk act Tower of Power, which last unveiled "The Great American Songbook" in 2009.
