Justin Timberlake is "ready" for new project
Justin Timberlake is teasing the music community with an "I'm ready" message released Thursday (1/10), as well as a countdown clock at his website that runs out Sunday (1/14).
The minute-long YouTube video shows the superstar walking through a recording studio while he explains his love of music in a voiceover.
"Someone asked me the other day 'So, are you just done with music?' It means more to me than anybody else in the world," Timberlake says in the video. "Look, I've only done two albums in 10 years; that's the way I really look at it ... I'm the one who sits and is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it.
The message continues: "As close as I get to it, I don't know that I could physically torture myself that much year-in and year-out and expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it is right now," he continues. "I don't want to put anything out that I feel like is something I don't love, you just don't get that everyday. You have to wait for it."
Timberlake then puts on a pair of headphones, steps to the microphone and says, "I'm ready."
There's no official word on what Timberlake's referring to, though his website is running a countdown that expires Sunday. A note posted Thursday states, "The Countdown has begun... Your wait will be over Sunday."
Timberlake's most recent solo effort, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," surfaced in 2006. The Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum album followed his 2002 solo debut, "Justified," which won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.
