Coldplay adds trio of U.S. shows to 2012 schedule

After an in-progress Australian leg, British alt-rockers Coldplay will head to the U.S. to close out the year.
The four-piece act, helmed by Chris Martin, will first complete a series of Australian gigs, which continue Nov. 17-18 in Sydney and wraps up Nov. 21 in Brisbane, before returning stateside for a handful of end-of-year shows on the East Coast. The alternative outfit will headline two shows -- Dec. 29 in Uncasville, CT, and Dec. 30 in Brooklyn, NY -- both of which will feature support by Naturally 7.
A New Year's Eve (12/31) co-headlining performance with long-time friend and collaborator Jay-Z in Brooklyn is also on the books.
Tickets for the Uncasville performance go on sale Friday (11/16), while the Brooklyn gigs become available Saturday (11/17), all via Live Nation.
The New Year's Eve show will mark the second time Coldplay has rung in the New Year with Jay-Z. The two outfits shared the bill in Las Vegas in 2010, as well as earlier this year at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Coldplay most recently unveiled "Mylo Xyloto," the group's fifth studio effort, in October 2011. The Brian Eno-produced, platinum-selling album topped The Billboard 200, as well as charts in 17 other countries.
