The Civil Wars cancel tour due to internal discord

Grammy-winning Americana duo The Civil Wars will not make their previously scheduled European tour and cannot "continue as a touring entity at this time," citing internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition.

The pair -- Joy Williams and John Paul White -- made the announcement Tuesday (11/6) via their Facebook page, performing a final show that night in London and canceling all remaining performances.

In the announcement, The Civil Wars apologized for the cancellation, thanked fans for their love and support, and addressed the costs incurred by some fans.

"We understand that there are many of you stuck with service charges and travel reservations due to our abrupt cancellations," the announcement stated. "Please email us at info@thecivilwars.com if there are costs incurred that you would like to be reimbursed for, include a scan or attachment to your receipt(s) of the costs, and we will do our best to reimburse you for non-refundable charges."

The Civil Wars released their one and only full-length effort, "Barton Hollow," in February 2011. The 14-track collection, produced by Charlie Peacock, won Grammys for Best Folk Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
