Multiple Grammy winner Beyonce has been tapped to perform at the most-watched musical event of the year, the 2013 Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII halftime show.

Few details have been released about the 47th annual event, which will take place Feb. 3 at New Orleans' Mercedes-Benz Superdome and will be broadcast on the CBS network.

Beyonce joins the ranks of some iconic performers, including The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Prince, The Rolling Stones and U2. Madonna, last year's halftime entertainer, pulled in more than 112 million viewers.

Beyonce released her most recent platinum-selling album, "4," in June 2011. The 12-track effort topped The Billboard 200, as well as album charts in nine other countries.

The 16-time Grammy winner has performed less often since the January birth of her and husband Jay-Z's first child, daughter Blue Ivy.
