Sufjan Stevens readies for "Silver & Gold" holiday trek
Singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens will make a run across the U.S. this fall and winter in support of his impending holiday box set, "Silver & Gold."
The Michigan native will kick off the festive outing with a Nov. 23 performance in Philadelphia, PA, and crisscross the continent over the course of a month. The 23-city tour extends through a Dec. 21 show in New York City.
Tickets for most gigs, which will also feature opening support from Sheila Saputo, are available now via Stevens' website.
The "Sirfjam Stephanapolous Christmas Sing-A-Long Seasonal Affective Disorder Spectacular Music Pageant Variety Show Disaster" will showcase Stevens with a five-piece backing band performing all-holiday tunes, including tracks from both Christmas box sets.
"Silver & Gold" will hit retailers Nov. 13 via Asthmatic Kitty Records. The collection includes five EPs recorded between 2006 and 2010, as well as Christmas stickers, temporary tattoos and photos, among other features.
Stevens released his first holiday box set, "Songs For Christmas, Vols. 1-5," in 2006. His most recent studio album, "The Age of Adz," in 2010. That set peaked at No. 7 on The Billboard 200 and at the top of the magazine's Top Independent Albums chart.
