The Rascals ready for reunion with Kickstarter campaign
For the first time in more than 40 years, The Rascals will take on a trio of "Once Upon A Dream" performances, thanks in large part to an in-progress Kickstarter campaign.
The original foursome, comprised of Felix Cavaliere, Gene Cornish, Eddie Brigati and Dino Danelli and known for blue-eyed soul hits like "Good Lovin'," will perform three consecutive nights (12/13-12/15) in Port Chester, NY, all of which will be a combination concert and theatrical event produced and directed by the E Street Band's Steven Van Zandt and lighting/projection specialist Marc Brickman.
Van Zandt created a Kickstarter campaign for the events in an effort to raise funds to enhance the production quality.
"Me and Marc have invested our time, money, and blood these last few years for this idea and now we need you to bring it home," Van Zandt said in a press release. "Not one dollar that is contributed will go into anyone's pocket, or be commissioned in any way, every dollar will go into the production making it as good as it can be, as great as the Rascals deserve."
The campaign began Sept. 24 and aims to raise $100,000 by Oct. 24. Nearly 175 backers have pledged over $36,000 to date.
The Rascals, originally known as The Young Rascals, got their start with their self-titled 1966 debut. The quartet disbanded after the 1972 release, "Search and Nearness." The band reunited for their 1997 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, presented by Van Zandt. They also took the stage for a 2010 benefit show at New York City's Tribeca Grill, which featured special guests Bruce Springsteen and Van Zandt on "Good Lovin'."
