Rodriguez resurfaces with tour behind "Searching for Sugar Man"
Folk singer/songwriter Rodriguez will make his way around North America beginning later this month in support of his starring role and musical contributions to the documentary "Searching for Sugar Man."
The Detroit native, born Sixto Diaz Rodriguez, will kick off the 2012 dates with an Aug. 30 performance in Washington, D.C. Sixteen major market stops follow, including two Canadian shows scheduled for Oct. 11 in Vancouver and Oct. 25 in Toronto.

Rodriguez began his music career in the early '70s with two albums: 1970's "Cold Facts" and 1971's "Coming From Reality." Though he failed to chart domestically, the musician made a delayed late-'70s splash in Africa and Australia, unknowingly becoming a part of the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa.
Earlier this year, the documentary "Searching for Sugar Man" hit film festivals worldwide. The movie follows two fans on a mission to find out if the rumors of Rodriguez's death are true, and if not, what he's up to presently. Songs from Rodriguez's first two albums make up the soundtrack, which hit retailers July 24.
The British documentary, helmed by Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul, served as the opening film at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where it took home awards for Special Jury Prize and Audience Award for best international documentary.
