Primus unleashes plans for first-ever 3-D tour

Experimental rock outfit Primus will follow up a late-spring trek with a groundbreaking 3-D tour that will take over North America this fall.
With a weekend of performances at the Gathering of the Vibes Festival recently in the books, the California-based band is preparing for its first-ever 3-D-enhanced live performances, which will feature two sets each night, as well as Quad Surround Sound.
According to a press release, the band teamed with 3D Live from Burbank, CA to create original 3D content for the tour, and audience members will be given 3D glasses to enjoy the full, psychedelic effects.
The fall outing gets underway Oct. 12 in Poughkeepsie, NY, and runs for about a month.
Primus, helmed by bassist/singer Les Claypool, unveiled "Green Naugahyde," the band's seventh studio effort, last September. Produced and engineered by Claypool in his own Rancho Relaxo studio, the album peaked at No. 15 on The Billboard 200 and follows 1999's "Antipop."
Fans can check out the video for the single "Lee Van Cleef" now via the band's YouTube page.
