Public Image Ltd. unleashes North American trek behind "This Is PiL"
English post-punk outfit Public Image Ltd. will return to North America this fall as they continue drumming up support for their first new album in 20 years, "This Is PiL."
The four-piece act, comprised of frontman John Lydon, guitarist Lu Edmonds, bassist Scott Firth and drummer Bruce Smith, will first complete a round of European gigs that begin later this week and push through mid-August.
The just-announced North American leg kicks off Oct. 3 in Orlando, FL, and works its way along the East Coast for several dates before turning westward. The 18-date run includes a couple of Canadian stops -- Oct. 16 in Montreal and Oct. 18 in Toronto -- before wrapping up with a Nov. 3 appearance at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX.
Tickets for the international gigs are on sale now via the band's website, while the North American shows go on sale beginning Aug. 2.
Public Image Ltd. unveiled its latest effort, "This Is PiL," in May via the group's own PiL Official label. The album, which was recently reviewed by SoundSpike contributor Tjames Madison, marks the band's ninth studio release and first since 1992's "That What Is Not."
Fans can watch a live performance of "Deeper Water," a cut from the new album, via the band's YouTube page. That appearance is part of a the rockers' April 2 performance at London' Heaven earlier this year, which also serves a bonus live DVD on the deluxe edition of "This Is PiL."
