Bruce Springsteen adds another North American leg to "Wrecking Ball" run
On the cusp of wrapping up a much-publicized European outing, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have unveiled another round of North American dates for their "Wrecking Ball Tour."
The 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year and his backing band return to the States next month for a two-night stand Aug. 14-15 at Boston's Fenway Park, followed by a month's worth of performances. Since last check, another 16 stops have been tacked on to the itinerary, beginning with an Oct. 19 show in Ottawa, Ontario, and pushing through a Dec. 6 performance in Glendale, CA.
Tickets for previously announced shows are available now via the outfit's website, while on-sales for the latest additions begin Aug. 17 and run through late September, depending on the market.
Springsteen released "Wrecking Ball," his 17th studio effort, in early March. The album debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 and at No. 1 in 15 other countries.
Earlier this month, the New Jersey native made headlines when his London performance, featuring special guest and former Beatle Paul McCartney, was cut short because it ran over curfew. And the iconic rocker acknowledges his personal struggles in a lengthy profile in the July 30th issue of The New Yorker magazine.
"My issues weren't as obvious as drugs," Springsteen said in the interview. "Mine were different, they were quieter--just as problematic, but quieter. With all artists, because of the undertow of history and self-loathing, there is a tremendous push toward self-obliteration that occurs onstage. It's both things: there's a tremendous finding of the self while also an abandonment of the self at the same time. You are free of yourself for those hours; all the voices in your head are gone. Just gone. There's no room for them. There's one voice, the voice you're speaking in."
