Willie Nelson stays on the road behind "Heroes"
Willie Nelson proves he can still take on an extensive itinerary, adding even more shows to a 2012 tour that now pushes through the late fall.
Following his 39th annual 4th of July Picnic in Fort Worth, TX, last week, the iconic country singer/songwriter finished up a few more Texas shows and will next take the stage Tuesday (7/10) in Flagstaff, AZ. Since last check, more than two dozen dates have been tacked onto the schedule, which features performances at theaters, casinos and fairgrounds through mid-September. A Nov. 15 appearance at the Austin's ACL Live at Moody Theater rounds out the current slate of dates.
The Red-Headed Stranger released "Heroes" in mid-May via Legacy Records. The effort, produced by Buddy Cannon (Kenny Chesney), contains classic country songs, along with new songs written by Nelson and his son, Lukas. Guest musicians on the set include Merle Haggard, Sheryl Crow, Billy Joe Shaver, Jamey Johnson, Ray Price and Snoop Dogg, among others.
The latest release, which follows last year's "Remember Me Vol. 1," marks the first album of Nelson's new long-term deal with Sony Music, which currently owns Columbia Records, Nelson's label for 20 years of his early career.
