Mumford & Sons fill out summer road trip ahead of fall album

Mumford & Sons have added more stops onto their summer schedule ahead of the September release of their sophomore set.
The roots-rock quartet will finish up an in-progress European trek that continues July 30 in Werchter, Belgium, and pushes through mid-July. The North American leg kicks off Aug. 1 in Hoboken, NJ, and since last check, 10 new stops have been added, including shows in Portsmouth, VA (8/9); Louisville, KY (8/13); and Morrison, CO (8/28). The tour wraps up with a Sept. 1 appearance at Colorado's Aspen Jazz Festival.
Four of the shows--Portland, ME (8/4); Bristol, VA/TN (8/11); Dixon, IL (8/18); and Monterey, CA (8/25) -- make up a previously announced round of events dubbed "Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers," which will boast a varying lineup at each stop, as well as smaller events involving local businesses, venues and people, according to a press release. Each of the "Stopovers" sold out not long after being announced.
Mumford & Sons will release their long-awaited second studio set Sept. 24, according to a May 28 interview with a Belgian radio station backstage at the Pinkpop Festival.
"We finished the record this week," keyboardist Ben Lovett unveiled when asked about a follow-up to 2009's "Sigh No More." "So we are going to be able to get it out in September. We've just figured that out."
The multi-platinum "Sigh No More" peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and at the top of several of the magazine's other charts, including Digital Albums, Alternative Albums, Folk Albums, Independent Albums and Rock Albums.
