Simian Mobile Disco brings "Unpatterns" to North America
U.K. electronic duo Simian Mobile Disco will spend some time touring North America this winter, drumming up support for the recently released "Unpatterns."
The pair -- James Ford and Jas Shaw -- will first complete a trio of summer DJ sets, followed by a Sept. 1-2 appearance at Los Angeles' FYF Fest, where they will premiere their new live show set, according to a press release. The road trip then takes a three-month break before picking up again with a Dec. 1 performance in San Francisco. Ten more club shows follow, taking the act across the eastern portion of North America.
"Unpatterns," the outfit's third studio effort, surfaced last month via Wichita Recordings. The nine-track album, which peaked at No. 7 on the U.K.'s Dance Albums chart, includes the single "Your Love Ain't Fair."
"We knew we wanted to do something different than the previous one, but that's always our thinking when we start to make a record," Shaw explained about the new album in a recent interview with Stereogum. "In terms of the gear and such, we had a bunch of synths we like and a load of old drum machines and sequencers ... we basically just plug everything in and start playing around. That was really nothing new. What really changed this time was us as much as anything."
