Morrissey adds fall leg of U.S. concerts

Former Smiths frontman Morrissey has confirmed a fall leg of U.S. theater shows following a summer European tour, all in continued support of his latest release, "The Very Best of Morrissey."
The iconic English rocker opens the European trek July 5 in Liege, Belgium. He'll follow that outing with the 33-date fall leg, which gets underway Oct. 5 in Boston, and pushes through a Dec. 8 performance in Atlantic City, NJ.
Morrissey released a remastered collection of hit singles, B-sides and previously unreleased material in April 2011 entitled "The Very Best of Morrissey." A bonus DVD featuring 11 videos and a rarely seen 1990 live performance of "I've Changed My Plea to Guilty" is also included in the set.
His most recent studio album, "Years of Refusal," urfaced in February 2009 and peaked at No. 3 on the U.K. Albums chart and at No. 11 on The Billboard 200.
Morrissey, who will release his autobiography later this year, plans to retire in two years at the age of 55, according to a recent interview with JuiceOnline.com.
"I see it as the sentimental climax to the last 30 years," he explained. "It will not be published until December 2012, which gives me just enough time to pack all I own in a box and disappear to central Brazil. The innocent are named and the guilty are protected."
