Raveonettes ready for "Observator" unveiling with North American dates
Danish indie-rock duo The Raveonettes will finish up a handful of summer festivals before hitting the North American tour trail behind the forthcoming "Observator."
The outfit, comprised of guitarist/songwriter Sune Rose Wagner and singer/bassist Sharin Foo, have two Chicago gigs: June 23 at Subterranean and June 24 in Green Music Fest. The official stateside trek gets underway Sept. 21 in Portland, OR, and pushes through 15 major markets before wrapping up Oct. 12 in San Francisco,.
The Raveonettes will unveil "Observator," their sixth studio effort, Sept. 11 via Vice Records. The album, which follows last year's "Raven in the Grave," was produced by Richard Gottehrer and recorded at Hollywood's Sunset Sound.
"As part of the band's 10-year anniversary I wanted to do something special," Wagner explained in a recent Spin interview. "So I insisted on us going there. I did not regret that at all. I think if we had not gone there the album would be very different and not as good as it is now. It made a huge difference to be in that environment surrounded by all those ghosts of genius."
In April, the pair released an EP entitled "Into The Night," which is currently available via iTunes.
