Elton John back in action after illness
Elton John will resume his scheduled world tour later this week after recuperating from a serious chest infection which sent him to a Los Angeles hospital last week.
The iconic piano man will begin his summer road trip with a June 1 kick-off in Wetzlar, Germany, as planned, a spokesman told BBC News today (5/30). That European leg pushes through a July 21 show in Nimes, France.
"Thank you for your well wishes," John's partner, David Furnish, told reporters at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards in London. "He's doing incredibly well and recovering."
Last week, John fell ill during a performance of his Las Vegas residency, "Million Dollar Piano," and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center May 23 for testing and treatment. Since then, the 65-year-old artist has been resting at home, Furnish told reporters.
John is slated to head to North America later this year. That portion of the trek begins Sept. 7 in Sarnia, Ontario, and includes seven concerts scheduled across the eastern half of the continent. Tickets for all shows are on sale now via John's website.
John's illness resulted in the cancellation of three "Million Dollar Piano" performances in Las Vegas. The singer will return to his residency in October.
