The xx plan to hit North American major markets
London electronic act The xx has added a quick North American leg to its spring and summer tour of the world.
The English indie outfit will continue performing around Europe with a May 29 show in Cenon, France, followed by another 11 concerts. A one-off Japanese show July 4 in also on the books.
The xx will then travel to North America for a July 23 kick-off performance in Los Angeles and venture through five major markets before heading back across the pond.
The xx released their eponymous studio debut in 2009 via British indie label Young Turks. The effort, which the trio produced themselves and mixed the tracks with the help of Rodaidh McDonald, won the 2010 Mercury Prize.
Earlier this month, the xx performed several new songs at an intimate show at London's Chats Palace, according to NME. Though member Jamie Smith mentioned the band's intention of releasing a second LP before the 2012 festival season in a December interview with The Creators Project, no official announcement of a new album has yet been made.
