Aerosmith premieres new single on "Idol," readies for tour
Aerosmith surprised fans of "American Idol" with a performance of "Legendary Child," the first single from their forthcoming album, on the hit show's season finale this week.
Wednesday night's episode, which crowned singer/songwriter Phillip Phillips as the season 11 winner, also saw "Idol" judge and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler regroup with his band for the debut of their latest single, "Legendary Child." The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will head out on a North American tour next month, beginning with a June 16 performance in Minneapolis, MN.
Since last check, another five dates have been scattered throughout the schedule, including a June 29 show in Albany, NY, and a second night (7/19) in Boston. Cheap Trick will provide opening support on the North American jaunt, tickets for which are available now via Ticketmaster and Live Nation.
The new single, which is currently available via iTunes, can be found on the new effort, "Music From Another Dimension," which hits retailers Aug. 28. The forthcoming release marks the band's first new material since 2004's "Honkin' on Bobo," which peaked at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the magazine's U.S. Blues Albums chart.
The rockers celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2010.
