Hip-hop superstar Jay-Z will curate and headline the first-ever Budweiser Made in America Music Festival, which will take place over Labor Day weekend in Philadelphia.
The two-day event, slated for Sept. 1-2 in Philly's Fairmount Park, will "embody the American spirit," according to a press release, with a variety of genres covered, including rock, hip-hop, R&B, Latin and dance. Proceeds will benefit the United Ways in greater Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, Lancaster County, PA, and New York City.
The official lineup will be announced May 21, and tickets for the festival will go on sale May 23 via Ticketmaster and Live Nation. A limited number of two-day passes will be available for $99, plus service charges. Those who friend Budweiser on Facebook will have access to presale tickets beginning May 22.
The new festival was announced Monday on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, according to the city's NBC affiliate, by Mayor Michael Nutter and Jay-Z, along with representatives from Budweiser and United Way.
"I can't do half-baked work," Jay-Z said at the morning press conference. "So, I'm really putting my all into this. I'd like to announce that we've already got like 70 percent of the artists confirmed. So, we're working. It's gonna be a great day in Philly."
The 14-time Grammy winner most recently unveiled "Watch the Throne," a collaborative album with Kanye West, last August. The platinum-selling set topped both The Billboard 200 and the magazine's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
