Jane's Addiction adds third leg to "Theatre of Escapists" trek
Just a week into the second leg of their "Theatre of Escapists Tour" of North America, alt-rockers Jane's Addiction have unleashed a third round of stops behind last year's "The Great Escape Artist."
The rock outfit -- frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with bassist Chris Chaney --will next take the stage tomorrow (5/15) in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Since last check, another seven confirmed shows have been added to the itinerary, along with nine cities and venues that are awaiting official dates.
Mutemath, Band of Skulls and Die Antwoord will take turns handling opening duties for the new summer dates, tickets for which go on sale beginning Friday (5/18).
The "Escapists" outing merges music and immersive theater, with local talent filling lobbies of theaters across the country to entertain concertgoers before the show.
Jane's Addiction released "The Great Escape Artist," the band's first studio release in eight years, last October via Capitol Records. The effort, produced by Rich Costey (Muse, Nine Inch Nails), peaked at No. 12 on The Billboard 200 and follows 2003's gold-certified set, "Strays."
Farrell is already thinking about the effort's follow-up.
"What I have not seen before is a group that's done a record, had somewhat of a theme – escapism – and then done a second record almost as if it was a follow-up movie. I want to do that," the frontman explained in a January interview with Rolling Stone. "We have material left from 'The Great Escape Artist' we didn't record. I'm very inspired to keep with the theme. Something's feeling right about it."
