Reports: Britney Spears signs $15 million "X Factor" deal

Multiple sources are reporting that pop star Britney Spears, five years removed from a public breakdown that led her to lose custody of her children and control of her finances, has inked a $15 million deal to serve as a judge on Simon Cowell's talent show 'The X Factor.'

Multiple sources are reporting that pop star Britney Spears, five years removed from a public breakdown that led her to lose custody of her children and control of her finances, has inked a $15 million deal to serve as a judge on Simon Cowell's talent show "The X Factor."

Fox-TV, the network on which "The X Factor" airs, so far hasn't made an official announcement. Spears would appear at the judges' table alongside Cowell and record industry exec L.A. Reid.

Spears' father, Jamie Spears, still serves as Britney's guardian under a conservatorship that was established after the singer's breakdown, and would have to have signed off on any deal.

If the Spears contract is finalized, Cowell still has two more pots to fill on the show -- one more judge slot, and a host. Cowell earlier announced that he was replacing Season 1 judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, and host Steve Jones.
