Robert Plant's latest outfit, Sensational Space Shifters, confirms dates

Iconic rocker Robert Plant will unveil his latest project, The Sensational Space Shifters, later this week, followed by a handful of U.K. shows and a U.S. festival performance.
Drawing inspiration "from the roots music of Mississippi, Appalachia, Gambia, Bristol and the foothills of Wolverhampton," according to Plant's website, the outfit consists of the former Led Zeppelin frontman and Band of Joy cohort Patty Griffin, as well as members of his former backing band, Strange Sensation -- guitarist Justin Adams, keyboardist John Baggott and bassist Billy Fuller. Drummer Dave Smith and Juldeh Camara are also part of the lineup.
The band will makes it performance debut with an intimate show at Guildhall in Gloucester, England, followed two months later by concerts in London (7/12) and Wiltshire (7/27-29). The only confirmed U.S. appearance is slated for Aug. 11 at the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival in Clarksdale, MS.
The multiple Grammy winner's most recent studio set, 2010's "Band of Joy," was released by his band of the same name. That effort debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200.
No word yet on whether fans can expect an album with The Sensational Space Shifters.
