Yes to return with new singer on summer tour
Prog-rock pioneers Yes are heading back out on the road this summer with another new frontman.
he London-bred band will perform 23 live shows in the U.S. plus a show in Mexico City, with additional dates to be announced. The touring kicks off July 13 at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ, and runs through Aug. 21 at the Pepsi Center in the Mexican capital. Fellow rock legends Procol Harum will be opening all U.S. dates.
Yes' current lineup features longtime band veterans Steve Howe (guitar), Chris Squire (bass), Alan White (drums) and Geoff Downes (keyboards), along and new lead singer Jon Davison. Davison, who was discovered while fronting a Yes cover band, replaces Benoit David -- who had replaced Jon Anderson in 2008.
Known for '70s classics such as "Roundabout" and their 1980s hit "Owner of a Lonely Heart," Yes helped define the prog-rock genre in the early 1970s with albums such as "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge," and over the course of the decade developed an elaborate live show that included a revolving stage.
After a brief breakup in the early 1980s, Yes generally remained active over the ensuing decades. The band's most recent releases were 2011's "Fly From Here," and the live recording from a 2009 performance, "In The Present - Live From Lyon."
