Kirk Franklin, three other gospel greats plot inaugural "The King's Men" run
Gospel heavy-hitters Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Donnie McClurkin and Israel Houghton will take to the stage together for the first time ever on "The King's Men" tour this fall.
The quartet of gospel icons will kick off the theater trek with a Sept. 16 performance in Phoenix, followed by 14 major market stops scattered across the U.S. The run is currently slated to wrap up Oct. 14 in Brooklyn, NY.
Tickets for the just-announced tour begin May 11 via Ticketmaster and Live Nation. VIP packages and meet-and-greet opportunities will also be available.
"In the gospel world, this is like Springsteen, McCartney, Prince and Elton hitting the road together," Kevin Morrow, Senior Vice President of Touring at Live Nation, said in a press release. "It's going to be a once in a lifetime event for music fans."
The four musicians have each had successful solo careers, with the group collectively taking home more than 100 awards from the Grammy, Dove, Stellar, BET, Soul Train, NAACP and American Music Awards.
Two of the artists have unveiled new efforts this year; Houghton's "Decade" surfaced in March and Sapp's "I Win" hit shelves last month. Franklin released his 11th studio set, "Hello Fear," in March 2011, while McClurkin's most recent album, "Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs," dropped in 2004.
