YACHT sets sail in North America this summer
Electro-pop outfit YACHT, which is now in the midst of a month-long European trek, will follow up the outing with a round of North American dates that gets underway in late May.
In honor of the European jaunt, YACHT has just released a cover of avant-garde French singer Brigitte Fontaine's 1969 release, "Le Goudron," which can be downloaded here. The cover song marks YACHT's first foray into French-language vocals, despite vocalist Clare L. Evans being raised in France. "We can only hope that our frantic, starry-eyed cribbing of Fontaine makes us better people," the Portland, OR-based YACHT explained on their blog.
Following on the heels of the European trek, YACHT will embark on a trek focusing on the southern U.S. which kicks off May 24 at The Loft in San Diego and includes a May 26 stop at the Neon Desert Music Festival, before wrapping at the Glass House in Pomona, CA. The band will also play slots at San Francisco's Outside Lands festival (Aug. 10-12) and Chicago's North Coast Music Festival (Aug. 31-Sep. 2).
Originally a solo project of Jona Bechtolt, YACHT has been a duo consisting of Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans since 2008. When performing live, YACHT is accompanied by additional band members.
