In Pictures: Wild Flag in San Francisco

Since the release of their self titled debut album, the all-girl outfit Wild Flag has had plenty of rave reviews to keep them smiling as they road-test their new material.

In a live review published by SoundSpike last fall, Richard Tafoya described the band's strong cohesive quality: "There's no real lead guitarist in the band, and in the case of extended lead breaks, like those in "Glass Tambourine" and "Racehorse," a remarkable musical chemistry reveals itself, voiced through the strings and effects at [Mary] Timony's and [Carrie] Brownstein's disposal. Timony hits the floor to dial in her flange and envelope effects, taking her through some Electric Ladyland territory in parts where Brownstein leans on the creamy overdrive of her rig, playing up the harmonics of chord voicings and some tight lead runs." Wild Flag will perform at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival this weekend (4/22) in Indio, CA.

SoundSpike photographer Tim Mosenfelder attended Wild Flag's concert at The Fillmore in San Francisco on Wednesday (4/18) and here are some highlights. --View Larger Photos
